Welcome to Bali - the home of one of planet Earth’s last living spiritual cultures. It’s origins stem from south India and the great siddha yoga masters that brought the yogic culture to all of south-east Asia including Java and then Bali. This truly magical place, known for a deep spiritual frequency, stunning nature and locals with a profound interconnectedness with the natural world - both within so as without - makes this a perfect spot for deep inner work.

During our stay we explore our inner world through yogic practices, rituals and ceremonies of the locals and the absorb the spiritual and healing energy that permeates the entire island.

The retreat evolves around the five elements - earth, water, fire, air and space. Each element will have a practice connected, a special ceremony or connection to the natural around us. Our mornings are spend moving inwards - practicing yoga, pranayama and meditation. In the afternoons we relax by the pool, embark on senic silent walks, visit to temples to meditate, or engage in local rituals and ceremonies for deeper inner connection.

From the retreat spot there are scenic walks temples and you can also go explore the magic of Ubuds markets, , rice fields and nature. There are Ayurvedic treatments available at the retreat spots own spa.

The Yoga Teachings

From the lineage of Krishnamacharya and based the ancient yoga concept and practice of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Marie-Louise teaches a style of yoga that varies from ecstatic vinyasa to floaty slow flows and nourishing restorative yoga practice. Influenced and taught by many international teachers. Marie-Louise is mostly known for teaching her signature class - the Awakened Flow - an alignment based, breatfocused and transformative flow style class, sending students into deep states of flow. She often likes to incorporate the elements of nature into her classes along with the teachings of meditation and mindfulness, especially in her slow flow and restorative classes. At retreats she incorporates sacred rituals and ceremonies.

She is passionate about conveying yogic philosophy in an understandable and pragmatic way so as for her students to implement them in their daily lives. She sees yoga as a deep spiritual practice that is meant to make you feel free mentally, emotionally and energetically .

THE RETREAT SPOT + the SHALA BALI

In the middle of the calm and iconic rice paddies of Ubud is a beautiful sacred sanctuary called: The Shala Bali.

The Shala Bali is lovingly created as a home for people from all over the world to learn, share and preserve the ancient practices of yoga and to experience the benefits of integrated wellness. Founded on the principles of Balinese and Indian philosophy, the Shala Bali recognise and honour the interconnectedness with nature and thus provides a beautiful container for our time together in Bali.

The Shala Bali is consists of Darshana bungalows set among peaceful gardens, close to the integrated Ayurvedic Spa, and the Indian cafe. Continuing on a meandering path through the rice paddies, you will arrive at the villa rooms, vegetarian cafe, pool and our large open air Yoga Shala. Each area of the property is a sanctuary to relax, contemplate and immerse in nature.

The Shala Bali and its rooms are each beautifully and unique designed to invite in the natural surroundings. With an array of chic Bali inspired villa rooms, natural wooden bungalows and luxurious master suites, the Shala Bali can accommodate you needs. MARIE-LOUISE STRØYBERG

Marie-Louise is a certified E-RYT 500 yoga teacher with more than 10 years of teaching experience. She got most of her yoga training from New York where she lived and taught for 7 years. She is educated a meditation teacher and has held and holds yoga trainings, retreats, workshops and events in Copenhagen, where she is now based with her family. She teaches online through her channel - The Awakened Flow Club and is additionally the creator of 'The Self Practice Mastery Course', a transformative five month course that takes students through a deep journey of establishing their own spiritual home practice - a Sādhanā.

Marie-Louise teaches everything from ecstatic vinyasa to floaty slow flows and nourishing restorative yoga. She is mostly known for teaching her signature class - the Awakened Flow - an alignment based, creative, intelligent and transformative flow style class, sending students into deep states of flow. She is moreover a prenatal and postpartum yoga teacher as well as trained to do yoga with baby. She regularly takes new courses and trainings to deepen and expand her own inner world.

Besides this she is also the owner of Mind-Your Business - a corporate moving mindfulness concept that brings yoga, meditation and mindfulness to Danish companies. Through Mind - Your Business she also does company talks on how to unlock deep states of work-related flow as well as how to manage stress.

She spends most of her days teaching 1:1 yoga programs as well as 1:1 stress management to employees, who seek concrete tools and exercises to navigate and manage a busy work life. Something Marie-Louise herself has had close experience with after working 10 years in the consulting and advertising business navigating a stressful everyday work life herself.

She is dedicated to creating deep eye-opening, mind-body experiences to her students as well as sharing and conveying yogic knowledge, concepts and concrete exercises to enhance people’s experience of living authentic and meaningful lives.
